Hubert Kairuki Memorial University (HKMU) offers a variety of programs in different fields. Here are the entry requirements for some of their programs:

Bachelor of Nursing (BScN):

Direct entry: Candidates must have an Advanced Certificate in Secondary Education (ACSEE) with three principal passes in Chemistry, Biology, and either Physics, Mathematics, or Nutrition, with a C in Chemistry, at least a D in Biology, and an E in either/or of the three subjects (Physics, Mathematics, or Nutrition).

Equivalent qualifications:

Holders of a Diploma in Nursing with a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 and a minimum of 5 passes on the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) in Chemistry, Biology, and Physics.

Holders of a BSc degree with a Physics/Mathematics, Chemistry, or Biology/Zoology major (lower second or above). The program lasts four years, including an internship year.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN):

Candidates must have earned a second-class diploma in nursing or a B average pass, plus D or better grades in five O-level subjects, five of which must be science-related. Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, as well as at least two years of professional experience. The program lasts for three years.

Bachelor Of Social Work (BSW):

Direct entry requirements: Candidates should have two principal passes in each of the following subjects: advanced mathematics, agriculture, computer science, Kiswahili, English language, French, Arabic, fine art, economics, commerce, accountancy, physics, chemistry, and biology.

Equivalent entry requirements: Diploma in Social Work, Sociology, Education, Development Studies, Community Development, Counselling and Psychology, Youth Development Work, Nursing, or Gender and Development with an average of “B’’ or a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Doctor Of Medicine (MD):

Applicants must have finished Form VI or its equivalent with three primary passes in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with a minimum of 6 points, according to TCU criteria. They should have a minimum grade of D in physics, biology, and chemistry.

Equivalent admission criteria include a “B” average or a minimum GPA of 3.0 for a clinical medicine diploma, as well as a minimum “D” grade in each of the following subjects: O-Level subjects include English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics.

Diploma In Nursing:

Nursing Diploma Programme (NTA Level 4-6) Pre-Service is a program designed to accept students who have never before attended nursing school. Candidates who have finished Form IV (ordinary level certificate of Secondary Education) or it’s equivalent with TWO Cs and ONE D in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Mathematics. A pass in English is an added advantage.

Certificate In Social Work Nta Level 4 And Nta Level 5:

NTA Level 4 direct entry requirements: Certificate of Secondary Education with a minimum of FOUR PASSES, excluding Religious Studies, or National Vocational Award (NVA) level 3 (with a minimum of three passes in Certificate of Secondary Studies) (CSE).

NTA Level 5 direct entry requirements:

Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education with at least one principal and subsidiary pass excluding religious subjects.

Equivalent entry requirements (NTA Level 5):

Technician certificate in Social work-related occupations NTA level 4 in Social work.
